Several years ago, I and my family established a humanitarian organization called Yayasan Amal Ikhlas Mandiri (literally means: “Self-reliance & Compassion Endeavor Foundation”).
We encourage village people in Desa Puteran, Kecamatan Pagerageung, Ciawi, Tasikmalaya to help themselves through several activities that facilitates by the Foundation, such as:
- Play group school (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini, below 5 years). This school won the runner-up prize of all East Priangan Regency’s play group competition 2008.
- Kindergarten (Raudatul Athfal)
- Elementary school (Diniyah)
- Secondary school (Madrasah tsanawiyah).
- Now, we are building a construction for clean water, we are preserving an old-unused spring water around 1 kilometers from the village. Preserving, collecting, pumping, storage and distributing clean water through a self-help clean water group.
- Collects one spoon of rice from every family a day, then sell the rice and save the money for “Village Health Fund”.
- Conserve rain water by building infiltration well and biopori holes.
- Built a women group to produce and sell a traditional sticky taffy (“dodol” in Bahasa Indonesia) made of sticky rice, palm sugar, coconut milk, vanilla and finished with sun-dried banana leaf wrapping. Very delicious and rich of healthy nutrition.
